The Gateway Foundation has recently announced that it intends to open the first hotel in space, named Voyager Station, in 2027. The construction of the 50,000-square-metre facility with rooms for up to 440 people will be built by Orbital Assembly Corporation. The rotating ring-shaped form will give the station gravity equivalent to one-sixth of the Earth's. The first space hotel will contain restaurants, bars and gyms - everything you can find in a high-end hotel but with an astonishing view of Earth.
''Going to space will just be another option people will pick for their vacation''
These shows that technology keeps racing forward at an unimaginable speed - parallel to human needs and wants. Travelling into space and staying in a luxury Voyager Station will become a vacation that only super-rich will afford. Although the world's first space hotel will definitely open up new opportunities and broaden horizons, it might just turn out to be another factor dividing people into 'better and worse'.

Oh yes, only for the VERY rich.
ReplyDeleteDo we really need another piece of junk orbiting the earth? Space is about as polluted with the remains of satellites, space shuttles, etc as the earth is with plastic.
