Bangladesh

People's Republic of Bangladesh is considered one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. This is another example of a state ruled by corruption and connections. One of the reasons for the poor economic situation is its geographical location; frequent natural disasters, such as monsoon floods or cyclones, cause high poverty and undernutrition. Furthermore, due to the dramatic influx of refugees from Myanmar, Bangladesh is also one of the world's most densely-populated countries. These are the reasons why many citizens live in slums or are without any proper shelter. The difficult economic situation also results in poor health conditions and services; according to the World Bank, in urban areas of Bangladesh, only about third of the population has access to piped water. Ukraine

Since former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown and banished from the country in 2014, the state has been at war with Russia. The current ruler Wołodymyr Zełenski considers Ukraine as a republic with a semi-presidential system of government but what really runs the country is corruption. All these factors contribute to high crime rates what makes Ukraine not a very safe place to live. The difficult political situation forces many Ukrainian citizens to leave their country in search of better living conditions. Since 2015 at least 1.3 million Ukrainians left to work abroad mostly to Poland, Italy and Russia. Despite the crisis that h...

Belarus

Republic of Belarus is officially considered as a presidential republic with bicameral parliamentary government system. So far the state was represented by Alexander Lukashenko who came into power in 1994, after the Cold War. However, everything changed after the last election that took place this summer - Lukashenko won again, which made him the longest serving ruler of any country in Europe. The election results spread immediate controversy and many believe that they were carried out unfair and falsified. Since he eventually came into power, it sparked protests all over Belarus, with reports of police acting violently towards the protestors, beating and imprisoning them. 'Republic' quickly turned into authority headed by Lukashenko who wants to maintain power at all costs. Belarus has nine TV channels - all of them are controlled by the government, as the majority of newspapers. This has made it very difficult for people to publicly criticise the government or hold them to ac...
