Since former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown and banished from the country in 2014, the state has been at war with Russia. The current ruler Wołodymyr Zełenski considers Ukraine as a republic with a semi-presidential system of government but what really runs the country is corruption. The war affects daily life there and has already changed it. Due to the high prices and low wages, the standard of living is very poor. It is also difficult to take a loan and thus buy a car or a flat what only a few can afford. There is also galloping inflation which means that for the same amount of money people can buy fewer and fewer . All these factors contribute to high crime rates what makes Ukraine not a very safe place to live. The difficult political situation forces many Ukrainian citizens to leave their country in search of better living conditions. Since 2015 at least 1.3 million Ukrainians left to work abroad mostly to Poland, Italy and Russia. Despite the crisis that has lasted for years many still hope for better times to come.

Ukraine is quite different from some of the other countries you have written about. It seems to be ruled by anarchy, corruption and oligarchs rather than an authoritarian regime.
